Pigment International will present the Glory! Glory! Salon Talk, a public conversation examining the powerful symbolism of the American flag through the perspectives of artists, cultural leaders, and civic voices. The program takes place Friday, March 13 as part of the ongoing exhibition Glory! Glory! The event will be held at the Zhou B Art Center, 1029 W. 35th Street from 6 pm – 8 pm.

The Salon Talk will feature an interdisciplinary panel including cultural representative, author and art patron Vicki HeymanMonica Haslip, founder & CEO of Little Black Pearl (LBP), founded in 1994, and contemporary artist Rush Baker IV, Associate Professor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). The discussion will be moderated by financial strategist, entrepreneur and WVON radio host Rufus Williams

The exhibition brings together contemporary Black artists whose works reinterpret the American flag to explore themes of patriotism, protest, identity, and public memory. Through sculpture, painting, and mixed media, the artists challenge viewers to consider how the nation’s most recognizable symbol reflects both the promises and contradictions of American democracy. The exhibition continues through February 20th.

Sponsored by Zhou B Art Center, Rep. Kimberly Du Buclet, Know Your Power, and Mahogany Gallery.
