BUTTER Fine Art Fair returns to Indianapolis for its sixth edition September 3–6, transforming the historic Stutz Building into a four-day celebration of contemporary art by more than 50 artists of the African diaspora. Among this year's standout participants is Chicago-based designer and educator Norman Teague, whose custom furniture and object-making practice has made him one of the city's most sought-after creative voices.

Teague, principal designer of Norman Teague Design Studios and co-founder of blkHaUS studios, is known for pieces built from locally sourced materials that fuse clean, sculptural lines with deep ties to community and place. His inclusion in BUTTER's 2026 roster brings that Chicago design sensibility to an ever expanding national and international audience — and readers will get an even closer look at his process and philosophy in Pigment Magazine's Issue VI, where Teague is featured in an exclusive interview. Issue VI is available now for pre-order.

Bianca Marks, founder of Marks on Canvas joins the fair as one of two new guest curators this year, alongside Pittsburgh-based cultural strategist Kia Davis. Marks, founder of Marks on Canvas, is widely regarded for the infrastructure and relationships she builds behind the scenes for artists and institutions across Chicago — expertise she now brings to expanding BUTTER's national and international artist roster.

Now in its sixth year, BUTTER remains a no-commission fair, returning 100 percent of art-sale proceeds directly to exhibiting artists. Since its 2021 launch, the fair has welcomed more than 65,000 attendees and generated over $1.5 million in artist sales.

PRE-ORDER NOW: Norman Teague's full profile appears in Pigment Magazine Issue VI, on sale now for pre-order.
