Revolutionary Opens at Vjosa Café & Events

Pigment International's Revolutionary is now on view at Vjosa Café & Events, 1010 W. 35th St., through August 15. Explore thought-provoking works while listening to the exhibition soundtrack and enjoying one of the café's signature pastries. Journalism, Courage & Truth at Field Foundation

Pigment International joined journalists, editors and advocates for America @250: A Journalism Reckoning, presented by the Field Foundation. Powerful keynote addresses by independent journalist Georgia Fort and former Washington Post columnist Karen Attiah underscored the essential role of courageous reporting in protecting democracy. The evening also honored Chicago's rich tradition of fearless journalism, from Ethel L. Payne to today's reporters documenting history in real time.

Serving the Next Generation at NAACP ACT-SO

Patricia Andrews-Keenan and artist Reggie McFly proudly served as judges for this year's Chicago NAACP ACT-SO competition, joining an accomplished panel that included Monica Ikegwu, Aneferititi Bowman, Janice Bond, Ann Johnson and Gerald Griffin. The annual program celebrates the extraordinary creativity and academic excellence of young African American artists, scholars and performers, helping cultivate the next generation of cultural leaders.

Chicago Sculpture Exhibit Celebrates 25 Years

Chicago Sculpture Exhibit marked its 25th anniversary with recognition from Mayor Brandon Johnson and the Chicago City Council for a quarter century of bringing public art to neighborhoods across the city. Pigment Advisory Board member Anita Mauro serves on the organization's board, continuing a family legacy that traces back to sculptor Joseph A. Kersey, whose work was featured in the historic 1940 American Negro Exposition. In 2025, CSE and the Richard Hunt Legacy Foundation unveiled "Gifted to Me," a new public sculpture by 2025 Richard Hunt Award recipient D. Lamar Preston. Installed at Stony Island Avenue and 62nd Street near Hyde Park Academy High School, the work reflects the late Richard Hunt's commitment to expanding opportunities for underrepresented artists while enriching Chicago's public landscape.
